About Taylor J.
Taylor J. Washington grew-up in the Baltimore/Washington area by way of Somerset, NJ. She's always had a passion for the performing arts, and began using her gifts to uplift people even before she was old enough to attend school. Raised in the church, Taylor J. started singing with the choir at an early age.
Once in high school, The Maryland All State Choir, Towson Honor Choir, and the Peabody Chamber singers were a few of the choirs she participated in. She also continued to star in a variety of productions including Honk, for which she received a nomination for "Best Comedic Actress in a Musical" by the Cappies committee.
Taylor J. is an alumna of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where she studied professional music with a concentration in music therapy and psychology. While attending Berklee, she had the honor of performing in many productions on and off campus. She worked with artists such as Richard Smallwood, Heart, and Nona Hendricks. She even formed her own acapella group that performed all around Greater Boston.
Taylor J. has graced the stage of venues and theaters across the country. She has also sailed the seas performing with Disney Cruise Line.
She has been recognized and nominated for her works including but not limited to, Women in the Arts award presented by The Patapsco River (MD) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, Peabody Institute Award, Helen Hayes award nomination for her performance as Paradice in the musical Brooklyn and, Henry Award nomination for her role as Sophia in The Color Purple.
A proud member of Actors Equity Association and co-founder/owner of Queens Sing, Taylor J. can still be seen performing around not only the nation but the world.
